• Immediately upon returning home, place ice bag on area. Leave in place for one hour, then alternate 1/2 hour off for 4 to 5 hours. Repeat this procedure tomorrow.
• Bite on gauze pack for one hour. Repeat for 1/2 hour if wound continues to bleed after that time.
• DO NOT RINSE MOUTH AND NO SMOKING FOR 24 HOURS.
• Stay on a soft diet today avoiding the area of surgery.
• Some discomfort and swelling is to be expected. In case of extreme pain or swelling, however, contact our office at 675-6900. If after hours then call Dr. Herman's cell 698-8222.

Special Instructions:

• No toothpaste for 4 weeks, and only use the new toothbrush given to you (residue will effect the rinse).
• For the first month just use the Peridex rinse. Clean teeth twice daily, floss first. Fill Peridex cup up to line, dip brush in cup, brush teeth with wet brush. With the remaining Peridex and soak the incision site for 1 minute. Let the liquid fall out of your mouth - do NOT spit.
• In the middle of the day, wet a q-tip with Peridex and dab into site.
• Take 1 tablet of Amoxicillin 3 times a day.
• Take 1 tablet of Naproxen every 12 hours (for 2 days), then 1 tablet once every 12 hours as needed.
